What happens
Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the general store in Pine Ridge, have just been ordered by the banking commission to close their unlicensed bank and return all deposits. As they clear out the bank's remnants, they wrestle over what to do with the leftover fixtures, the big safe and the bank's old counter, and they settle on an odd idea: turning the space into a depot for a railroad Pine Ridge does not have. The talk drifts to a proverb about Mohammed and the mountain, which Lum takes literally, and he sets up a deer hunting trip for a friend. The episode is a light comedy of the two men's stubborn logic. Lum and Abner is a long-running NBC-era radio comedy; this episode first aired on September 18, 1941. Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle lead the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
