What happens
Lum and Abner, the old-timers from Pine Ridge in the hill country, are the central figures of this episode from the series of the same name, which first aired on 1940-02-09. Abner has been living alone in one of his tourist cabins after clashing with his wife Elizabeth over a new men's protective association that the married men of town have formed to resist their wives' demands. Abner is persuaded to join the club and its members plan to march to his house to press Elizabeth to sign its rules. Grandpappy Fair and Squire Skimp take part in the discussions, and the men gather their forces for the confrontation.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
