What happens
Lum and Abner prepare for the premiere of Lum's motion picture in Pine Ridge, and Lum insists on giving a speech to the audience. Abner doubts the speech suits the occasion, and Lum keeps revising it, adding stories of his youth and an exaggerated claim about his stage career. When Eddy Stearns, president of the school board, says the schoolhouse can be used only if he is allowed to speak, Lum and Abner decide to move the premiere to the lodge hall instead. They arrange the change with Caleb Wiehund, the lodge head, and send word to the decorators. The episode is from the Lum and Abner radio series, originally aired on April 7, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Listen for: Lum's revised speech about his youth and stage career, and Abner's skeptical comments on it
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
