What happens

Lum and Abner prepare for the premiere of their film The Bashful Bachelor in Pine Ridge. With the Macmillan boys away, the town needs someone to run the projection machine, and Lum and Abner discuss whether the studio in Hollywood should send a projectionist. Cedric Weehunt, the town's self-styled celebrity, is caught up in the excitement, dressing in a striped suit and signing autographs. Word arrives that visiting stars are coming by airplane, and Lum and Abner worry about their telephone and about the guest's supposed mechanical skills. The premiere is set for Friday night at the schoolhouse, with Ezra C. Strong to give a speech.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
