What happens

Lum Edwards worries that Squire Skimp has discovered his fake broken leg, a false claim sent to an insurance company. Lum and Abner are at the general store in Pine Ridge, where Lum frets about his nerves and his lie. Abner suggests they talk about the town growing, and Lum says he prefers Pine Ridge as it is. Squire Skimp then comes in to see Lum alone, and Lum decides to confess. The story is part of the Lum and Abner series, first broadcast on October 21, 1941, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
