What happens

Lum and Abner, the bumbling residents of Pine Ridge, are caught in a web of their own making. Lum has been pretending to have a broken leg, but in a hurry to hide the fact before the school teacher, Mrs. Frederick, visits, he and Abner bandage the wrong leg. At the Jot 'Em Down store, Lum and Abner discuss the new teacher, Lum's attendance at her Sunday school class, and his awkward walk home with her on his crutches. Later, Squire Skimp delivers a letter to Lum that Lum believes is from a correspondence school, and the two men fret over whether the Squire has noticed the mistake. The story is set in Pine Ridge and centers on Lum's anxieties and the letter he has received.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
