What happens
Lum Edwards sulks in Jot 'Em Down store at Pine Ridge, unhappy that his feigned broken leg cost him a day with Miss Frederick, who has gone with Frank Foster to a teachers' meeting in the county seat. Abner Peabody tries to cheer him up and argues him out of his plan to confess the fake injury. Lum keeps fumbling over whether he should go to bed or face the radio, and his bandages come off and go back on as the afternoon wears on. Lum and Abner is a radio comedy series, and this episode first aired on October 17, 1941, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
