What happens

Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the Jot-Em-Down store in Pine Ridge, are dismayed when a loaf of bread from their new delivery truck, containing a locket Lum meant for Miss Fredericks, goes missing. Lum is embarrassed that the locket carries his picture, and the town begins to gossip about who found it. Lum learns that Snake Hogan claims the prize and plans to visit the store to tease him. The story follows the two partners as they brace for Snake's arrival and try to keep their embarrassment from becoming public knowledge. The episode, first broadcast on December 15, 1941 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, features Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
