What happens

Lum and Abner, the pair from Pine Ridge, learn that Lum has been living in hiding after they played a prank that made him believe the authorities were after him. The two friends had been running a joke on Lum, and when the truth comes out he is missing. Abner and Grandpappy Spears discuss where he might have gone, with talk of Mexico and a revolution. Their concern grows as they search for him and handle his affairs. This is the Lum and Abner series, first broadcast on January 12, 1940, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Pine Ridge, a small hill-country community

Characters: Lum, Abner, Grandpappy Spears

Listen for: The pair's debate over where Lum has gone and what should be done about his property and insurance.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
