What happens

Lum and Abner discover a sack of diamonds hidden in a box of insurance papers that a stranger, John Devro, left with them for safekeeping in Pine Ridge. Believing the jewels belong to a Mrs. Barrington of Kansas City, the pair suspect they were stolen. Lum and Abner debate whether to notify the police, weigh the possibility of a reward, and search the newspaper for reports of a theft or a lost-property notice. Their search turns up unrelated advertisements, including one about a lost hairless dog, and Abner begins to daydream about Mrs. Barrington. The episode is a comedy set in the small community, and the story is still unfolding when the transcript ends.

Characters: Lum Edwards, Abner Peabody, John Devro, Mrs. Barrington, Squire Skimp

Listen for: Lum and Abner's efforts to find out whether the diamonds were stolen and their plan to write to Mrs. Barrington

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
