What happens
Lum and Abner, the Jot 'Em Down Store proprietors of Pine Ridge, deal with the bustle of a Hollywood film crew arriving in the small town. Crowds gather, and the two partners argue over business matters and the store's accounts. Their talk turns to old debts and a past circus deal, and they trade sayings about chickens coming home to roost, with Abner insisting that wrongdoing always catches up with a person. The broadcast of Lum and Abner aired on March 25, 1940, and its lead actors are Chester Lauck and Norris Goff, with Lurene Tuttle also appearing.

Characters: Lum Edwards, Abner Peabody, Mr. Cheever
Listen for: The partners' back-and-forth over the phrase about chickens coming home to roost, and their argument over the old circus deal.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
