What happens
Lum and Abner, the storekeepers of Pine Ridge, deal with a bad check from Squire Skimple, who tried to sell worthless apartment plans to Wadsworth Tiffin. Lum and Abner worry about how to spend the $10,000 gift from Tajini Smith for the community. Mousey proposes an old people's home for the town's elderly residents, and his plan takes shape as a shady, relaxed place for fishing, checkers and croquet. Lum and Abner discuss the proposal and whether they should trust the money to others. The episode is part of the Lum and Abner radio series, first aired on May 8, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
