What happens

Lum and Abner run a small library in Pine Ridge and must fill out library cards for their patrons. When young Cedric Weehunt comes in wanting a card, the pair insist on questions that trip him up, including whether he owns property. Abner tries to help Cedric qualify by selling him a strip of ground beside the store, while Lum heads to the schoolhouse to deliver cards to Miss Fredrick. The story of Lum and Abner, from the series of the same name, aired on 14 November 1941 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
