What happens

Luigi Basko, a newly arrived Italian immigrant in America, wants to give his mother a good present for Mother's Day. He starts with a plan for bedroom slippers, but his friend Pasquale is unhelpful with money and advice. Luigi then tries a series of flower shops, each one more expensive or unsuitable than the last, while his limited funds and his eagerness to do things the American way keep causing trouble. His efforts lead him into odd encounters around town. Life with Luigi is a comedy series, and this episode aired on May 9, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
