What happens

Luigi Vasco, a young Italian immigrant in America, has been fascinated by an American girl named Peggy Marcia, and his friend Pasquale worries he is neglecting his night school studies. When Luigi goes out with Peggy, she turns him down and asks him to return to school, leaving him dejected. Luigi reads a magazine about love and tells his mother in a letter about his adventures. In the meantime, Luigi and Pasquale discuss romance and Luigi's plans, while Mrs. Spalding and others are preparing for a surprise party for him. The story is presented as Luigi's letters to his mother, with comic dialogue and dramatic moments as Luigi's emotions swing from despair to hope. Life with Luigi is a comedy series created by Sol Saks and starring J. Carrol Naish with Alan Reed, first broadcast on January 16, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
