Luigi Vasco, a recent immigrant in Chicago, boasts to his friend Pasquale that he can find an American girl to take out that night. Pasquale bets him that he cannot, and Luigi tries phoning women listed in the telephone book. He reaches a telephone operator, who agrees to meet him in front of the Wrigley Building. Luigi and his date go to a nightclub, where Pasquale and his daughter Rosa turn up and the bill becomes a problem. The episode is part of the Life with Luigi comedy series, which stars J. Carol Naish as Luigi with Alan Reed as Pasquale, and it first aired on January 9, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
