What happens

Luigi Vascarelli, a newly arrived Italian immigrant in Chicago, is convinced that friends matter more than money. His friend Pasquale insists money is what counts, and the two make a wager. Luigi asks his friends for fifty dollars, and they are willing but unable to help. Pasquale sets out to prove his point by abandoning Luigi far from home without money. Luigi must find his way back, working to earn his fare and his meal. The Life with Luigi series, first broadcast on December 5, 1950, features J. Carrol Naish as Luigi and Alan Reed as Pasquale.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
