What happens

Luigi Vasco joins a record collectors' club in New York and trades his Caruso records for a recording he wants to hear. He swaps records with fellow member Pascal Squali, who likes to pass each record along for a rarer one. Luigi's hobby soon leads to trouble: Pascal breaks the disc during a playback, and Luigi must track down a replacement by remembering only fragments of the song. The episode is part of the Life with Luigi comedy series, starring J. Carol Nash as Luigi, with Alan Reed as Pascal.

New York City, in the 1950s, including the record club, Rosa's apartment, a night school class, and record shops.

Characters: Luigi Vasco, Pascal Squali, Rosa, Mr. Horowitz, Mr. Schultz, Miss Podding, Mr. Olsen, Mr. Geller

Listen for: Luigi trying to recall the song's title and the lyric fragments he remembers, and the record store scene where a clerk's confusion over the request drives the comedy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
