What happens
Riley, a family man who keeps promising his wife a car, sees a drugstore window offering a new Buick to whoever guesses the number of beans in a bowl. He decides to enter, counting beans by hand at home and planning to have someone watch the bowl at the store. His son Junior is recruited to work there as a busboy in exchange for a promise to drive the car. Riley's counting is repeatedly interrupted by family, friends and neighbors, and the contest soon becomes the center of his attention.
A 1947 Los Angeles household and a drugstore in town, with a Buick offered as a contest prize.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
