What happens
Riley tries to bring together his neighbor Buckley Turnbull and Miss Grimshaw, Waldo's aunt, hoping they will fall in love and marry. After a plan to seat them side by side at a western picture goes badly, Riley turns to a series of tricks involving a forged letter and a handwriting analysis. The episode is part of The Life of Riley, first broadcast on June 25, 1944, on the Blue Network and NBC, with William Bendix as Riley, Paula Winslowe, Hans Conried and Alan Reed.
A small town neighborhood in June, including a drugstore, a movie theater and the Riley home.
Characters: Riley, Buckley Turnbull, Miss Grimshaw, Waldo, Witherspoon, Mrs. Riley
Listen for: Riley's scheming to match Buckley and Miss Grimshaw, and the mix-up at the movie theater over a hat.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
