What happens
Riley's family wants a summer vacation during wartime, but Riley resists leaving home. Riley's nephew Junior and daughter Babs press their case, and Riley's friend Buckley offers help. Riley agrees to look for a beach house if he can find one he approves of, and he turns to the crafty real estate agent Hogan to find a place. Hogan's paperwork proves tricky, and Riley's plans quickly tangle with the lives of a family already living in the house he has rented. The Life of Riley is a comedy series first broadcast on the Blue Network and NBC, and this is the first part of a two-part episode aired August 27, 1944, with William Bendix in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
