What happens
Chester A. Riley, a struggling family man, faces the monthly visit of rent collector Dawson, who has come to demand overdue rent. Riley mobilizes his family, including his son Junior and his dog Laddie, to fend off the collector with sprinklers and nailed gates. Riley's wife Peg and friend Gillis are drawn into the scheme. When Riley later takes on the rent collecting job himself after Dawson's dismissal, he finds the work strains his friendships and his conscience. The Life of Riley was a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on March 30, 1951, on the Blue Network and NBC, starring William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peg.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
