What happens
Riley forbids his sixteen-year-old daughter Babs from seeing her older boyfriend, Simon van der Hopper. Simon, distraught after Riley's refusal, threatens to jump off the Santa Monica Pier, and Riley rushes there in a panic. This is an episode of The Life of Riley, the radio comedy series, first broadcast on October 6, 1945, with William Bendix as Riley. Riley's frantic search and his conscience-driven worry drive the early comic scenes, as Riley's family and friends react to his behavior.
