What happens

Tessie Riley, a California aircraft worker, takes his boss Mr. Stevenson to a meeting with Professor Hotchkiss, a punctual inventor whose patent could save Stevenson's plant. Riley agrees to drive him there after the boss stays overnight at the Riley home. The Life of Riley aired on the Blue Network and NBC, and the broadcast includes the lead actor William Bendix as Riley. The transcript covers only the first part of the episode, in which a mix-up over the clocks and a family swap of bedrooms throws the schedule into confusion.

Los Angeles, California, the Riley home and the streets around it, in autumn 1945.

Characters: Riley, Mr. Stevenson, Peg, Waldo, Digger, Professor Hotchkiss, Gluten, Junior

Listen for: The three family members who each set the clock back an hour, and Riley's attempts to fix the timing for his boss.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
