What happens
William Bendix stars as Riley, a factory worker who has moved to the swing shift and enjoys the change. His wife Peg and their children begin coming and going at all hours, and Riley grows suspicious. He installs a time clock at home so each family member must punch in and out. The children find ways to work around it, and Riley's own late nights create tension at home. The episode is part of The Life of Riley, originally broadcast on March 16, 1951, on the Blue Network and NBC, with Paula Winslowe and Alan Reed in supporting roles.
Riley's home and the aircraft plant where he works, with a nightclub visit in between.
Characters: Riley, Peg, Gillis, Junior, Babs, Bert Roberts, Joe Howard, Digby Odell
Listen for: Riley's attempts to keep track of his family's whereabouts with a time clock, and the family's clever workarounds.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
