What happens
Chester A. Riley, played by William Bendix, is a generous factory worker who offers advice to a coworker, Henry, whose marriage has broken down. Riley recounts his own early marriage, when he and his wife Peggy separated after a quarrel over his job and his pride. Peggy tells the story from her side, describing the strain between them in their small Brooklyn apartment. The episode is part of The Life of Riley, first broadcast on March 13, 1948, on the Blue Network and ABC, with Paula Winslowe as Peggy. Riley's stubbornness and his misadventures lead to a series of comic complications, as the couple's quarrel grows louder and the household is turned upside down.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
