What happens
Chester A. Riley, a blunderer with a sharp tongue, is the central figure of this story. His son Junior asks for advice on a Valentine card for a girl, and Riley lectures him on love and thrift. Later, Riley discovers a gold locket sent by Sydney Monahan, an old acquaintance of his wife Peg, and he hides the package from her. When the locket proves to be a cheap imitation, Riley is driven to desperate measures to fix his deception. The episode is from the series The Life of Riley, first broadcast on February 18, 1949, on the Blue Network and NBC, starring William Bendix as Riley, with Paula Winslowe as Peg and Alan Reed and Hans Conried in supporting roles.
The Riley home and nearby streets in the city, and a train station, around St. Valentine's Day.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
