What happens
George Valentine is hired by Millie Brooks to investigate a mysterious treasure map found by her parrot, which shows an X marking a location in the bay. When the bird is shot and wounded, George realizes someone is desperate to recover the map. He traces the map's connection to a Dr. Labor, a mysterious stranger who has just left town by bus, and discovers Labor is meeting with a ship captain and crew loading supplies offshore.
A coastal town with a bay, Millie's wharf and hotel, a beach with sand dunes, and offshore waters where a ship is anchored.
Characters: George Valentine, Millie Brooks, Dr. Labor, Captain (ship's captain)
Listen for: The mystery of who drew the map and why, what the X marks in the bay, and whether the treasure is connected to sunken Spanish galleons from the pirate era.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
