What happens
George Valentine is called to the small town of Broomeville to investigate the murder of Mervin Brewster, a beloved local broom manufacturer who was shot through his front door window by a stranger in a dark hat and fish-colored face driving a big black sedan from the city. As George and Lieutenant Haster examine the crime scene, they discover that while everyone loved Brewster, the killer left no footprints—suggesting someone locally may have deliberately trampled the tracks with rubber boots to cover evidence.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
