What happens

George Valentine is hired by Dara Wyatt to prevent her husband Johnny, a boxer, from throwing Friday's fight against Pat Driscoll. Johnny has been pressured into taking a dive by gangster Douglas Hager, who has taken over the fight rackets. Dara wants her husband to fight honestly instead, even though it means defying powerful criminals who have bet a quarter million dollars on the fix.

A boxing arena and training facilities in an unnamed city; the story centers around a scheduled fight at the Christopher Arena.

Characters: George Valentine, Dara Wyatt, Johnny Wyatt, Douglas Hager, Pat Driscoll, Steve Helianis, Brooksie

Listen for: George's attempts to free Johnny from his contract with corrupt manager Helianis and to stand up to gangster Hager's threats; the growing tension as Friday's fight approaches with competing forces trying to control the outcome.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
