What happens

George Valentine is hired by Franklin Scott to identify a mysterious man in a white linen suit watching his house. The man claims amnesia and carries a calling card for Jack McDonald, a suicide victim from South America. When Scott's sister Mary arrives to meet her husband Sid Forrest, who was supposedly returning from mining in French Guiana, complications multiply—the ship Forrest traveled on reports he went overboard, but a man matching Forrest's description is already present in the household.

A city with a waterfront, aboard the Golden Drake ship, and Scott's home; the story involves connections to French Guiana and the town of Jaune Cache.

Characters: George Valentine, Franklin Jay Scott, Miss Brooks, Mary Forrest, Sidney Forrest, Mr. Amblar, Lieutenant Johnson, Captain Task

Listen for: The clever revelation that Forrest faked his own death by going overboard to escape McDonald's pursuit, and that the suicide note was written after the supposed death—a key detail that unravels the entire mystery.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
