What happens
George Valentine arrives at the estate of Lorenzo, an eccentric millionaire who has dedicated his fortune to giving talented people the opportunity to pursue their passions. But when Lorenzo is shot dead on his marble staircase, George must determine whether the murder was committed by one of the residents—Dr. Merkel, the psychologist; Hansen, the poet; or Amy, the language professor—or by Fred Jeffries, Lorenzo's suspicious brother-in-law who has been trying to have him committed.
Lorenzo's estate, a large house in the countryside with gardens and grounds.
Characters: George Valentine, Lorenzo, Fred Jeffries, Dr. Merkel, Hansen, Amy, Dr. Nolan
Listen for: An ingenious murder method involving a photo-electric cell, mirrors, copper wire, and a concealed gun that fires automatically when someone breaks a light beam.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
