What happens

George Valentine takes on a case from Paul Barron, a public stenographer whose brother Ricky Stevens is on trial for murder after robbing and killing a woman who owned a check-cashing service in an industrial city. Stevens is convicted in five minutes by the jury, but Paul believes his brother knows something that could help his case and hires George to talk to him before sentencing. George soon discovers that $60,000 from the robbery has disappeared, and multiple people—including an insurance investigator and Stevens' former employer—are watching Paul, apparently suspecting she may be involved with the money.

An industrial city and its jail, with scenes in a bar and police headquarters.

Characters: George Valentine, Miss Brooks, Paul Barron, Ricky Stevens, Lieutenant Riley, Gus, Fat Lindell

Listen for: A case involving a stolen $60,000, conflicting motives among those watching Paul, and George's investigation into whether Ricky Stevens truly has information that could save his life.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
