What happens

George Valentine receives a letter from Wesley Hart, an elderly man who wants to give away a precious Wittenberg Bible valued at over $20,000 while he's still alive so he can see someone enjoy it. George and his partner Miss Brooks arrive at Hart's boarding house on Sunday morning to investigate which of his three residents—his sister Miss Purdy, nurse Cora, or young Sam Keith—is most worthy of the gift. As George gathers information about each resident's past, he uncovers troubling secrets that complicate Hart's decision.
