What happens
George Valentine receives a letter from Ruby Devlin, a cleaning woman at Club Bim Bam, asking him to help a kind pawn shop owner named Ben Cullum who she fears is being pressured into criminal activity. Ruby overheard a drunk named Joey Krieger claiming he had pulled off a heist and used Cullum as a fence, but George suspects there may be more to the situation than Ruby's simple interpretation of human nature reveals.
A nightclub called Club Bim Bam and a pawn shop on Lower Forest Street in the city, with police headquarters involved.
Characters: George Valentine, Miss Brooks, Ruby Devlin, Ben Cullum, Joey Krieger, Lieutenant Johnson, Sergeant Lee
Listen for: George's skepticism about Ruby's naive reading of the situation, the details emerging about Cullum's surprisingly well-secured back room despite his modest front shop display, and the police sergeant's revelation about a major jewelry heist.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
