What happens
George Valentine collides with a young woman fleeing down a street, scattering pearls everywhere. As they collect the artificial pearls from a string of 42, one disappears down a sewer drain. George gallantly retrieves it, but the woman mysteriously flees with his coat and wallet. Now George investigates the jeweler who made the pearls and tracks down the woman at her address, only to find her apartment ransacked and himself confronted by dangerous men who force him inside.
City streets, a jewelry manufacturer's shop, and an apartment building
Characters: George Valentine, Brooksie, Miss Dale Krillin, Bela Zagari, Nubbin
Listen for: The comedic collision and pearl-counting sequence; George's banter with Brooksie about being fooled by the mysterious woman; the sinister turn when George arrives at Dale's apartment to find trouble waiting.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
