What happens

Private investigator George Valentine arrives at a mountain retreat to investigate Dr. Nicholas Wills on behalf of the nervous Miss Rosaire Burlick, who fears the doctor may be involved with her sister Marsha. When Marsha disappears and her husband Frederick Gentle confesses to shooting her in a moment of despair, Valentine must untangle the truth from a web of misunderstandings and emotional turmoil among the residents of the quiet summer home.

A mountain retreat with vacation cabins and a permanent house, during the end of summer season.

Characters: George Valentine, Brooks (his assistant), Rosaire Burlick, Frederick Gentle (artist), Marsha Gentle, Dr. Nicholas Wills

Listen for: The revelation of a confession that may not be what it seems, and the theme of emotional breakdown versus actual crime; Shakespeare's words about guilty creatures at a play striking souls to confession.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
