What happens

George Valentine is on a fishing vacation when he and his companion discover a murdered midget in the water. The victim carries a watch inscribed to Merle Bender from Colonel Gerald P. Fargo's circus. George tracks down the mysterious Empress of Fish Falls, a wealthy and commanding former circus performer who seems to know more about the dead man and the small town of circus retirees than she initially reveals.

Fish Falls, a small town by a river where retired circus performers have settled, and the Empress's castle estate nearby.

Characters: George Valentine, Claire Brooks, The Empress (Mrs. Bender), Shorty McDonald, Colonel Gerald P. Fargo, Castle (the butler), Elephant (the footman), Brother Face (store owner)

Listen for: George and Claire's discovery of the murdered midget; the revelation that Fish Falls is populated by retired circus folk; the mysterious Empress and her connection to the victim.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
