Krampusnacht

Krampus Night: December 5

Saturday · 6 PM to midnight Central
7 PM to 1 AM Eastern · 4 to 10 PM Pacific

The night before Saint Nicholas Day, when Krampus walks. Six hours of Krampus Night on this stream: the darkest songs and the scariest Christmas ghost stories, picked by the host himself. Then the regular running order comes back, a little shaken.

Your host

Krampus at his 1940s radio microphone, in headphones, in a candlelit cabin

Krampus, Esq.

Posh, clever and a little mean. An aristocrat who enjoys your fear: precise diction, cold contempt for naughty children, and a laugh he saves for the cruel bits. Less roaring monster, more sneering lord of the manor.

“Ah. Timothy. I’ve read your file. Twice, actually. It made for delightful bedtime reading.”

“Do stop crying, it’s terribly undignified. The sack is quite roomy.”

Watch

Krampus’s Kousins

Christmas monsters around the world

Krampus has cousins. Every corner of Europe has its own winter visitor who checks up on the children between St. Nicholas Day and Epiphany, and Krampus introduces them on the air, one at a time, in Krampus’s Kousins. Real folklore, told with affection: we laugh at the monsters, never at the people.

The house rules

  • Campy PG-13: dread and menace, no gore, no swearing.
  • Every song sounds like Christmas: sleigh bells and a Christmas word in the chorus.
  • Being bagged or “eaten” is a cartoon gag. Pranks stay silly: frogs, mud, pudding.
  • The screams are fun-scared, never real distress.
  • Folklore told with affection, from the Alps to Iceland.
  • Not a children’s channel: for grown-ups and brave teenagers.
