What happens
Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator for the New Jersey Fire and Casualty Company, looks into a fire that destroyed an $83,000 warehouse of mattresses and box springs belonging to Ben Murray, a Philadelphia furniture dealer. Fred Larkin, the company's contact, hands him the case, and Dollar travels to Vineland to examine the wreckage. Murray's insurance claim is based on the cost of the goods, and Dollar begins to question whether the figures he was given are accurate. The episode is the Smokey Sleeper Matter, part of the Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar series, which aired on CBS Radio on August 25, 1957, with Bob Bailey in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
