What happens

Insurance broker Sam Rubin has sold a $50,000 life insurance policy to the dangerous criminal Ed Julian (real name Eduardo Socka-Veddy) and now fears something may happen to him. He hires freelance investigator Johnny Dollar to travel to San Francisco and keep an eye on Julian until Rubin's lawyers can break the policy. Dollar arrives in San Francisco but finds Julian has moved from his known address on Knob Hill, discovering only an empty apartment. At Julian's office on Paul and Hooker Street, Dollar encounters Ray Gumbi, the attorney handling Julian's enterprises, who reveals that many people are looking for Julian.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
