What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is summoned to Philadelphia by Harry Branson, an anxious claims man at Philadelphia Mutual Liability and Casualty Insurance Company. Branson is worried about Smokey Sullivan, a former criminal whom the company insured at Dollar's urging. A factory has burned down, and a body found in the ashes is thought to be Sullivan's, based on a distinctive ring. Dollar doubts the identification and sets out to locate Sullivan, first by asking the fire investigator Captain Oscar Fletcher about the case and then by trying to draw Sullivan out through the press. The series is Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, first broadcast on CBS Radio on September 18, 1960, with Bob Bailey in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
