What happens
Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator for the Mid-States Industrial Insurance Company, is sent to Arizona to recover a hundred-thousand-dollar payroll taken in a Kansas City holdup. The robbers, led by Jip Nitzen, escaped a highway roadblock after killing a state trooper and a partner, and the search has so far come up empty. Dollar, wounded in the roadblock shootout, reviews the police account, studies a map of the region, and concludes the fugitives may still be hiding in the empty stretch of highway south of the junction. He equips himself as an amateur prospector and sets out to search the area. The episode is from the CBS Radio series Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, first broadcast on October 8, 1956, and starring Bob Bailey.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
