What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is assigned to investigate the sinking of the freighter Molly K in the Pacific. He receives a mysterious phone call from Ellen Brawley, daughter of the ship's captain, who asks him to meet her at Pier 29 on the waterfront at night. When Johnny arrives, he discovers Ellen works at the Broly shipping company office and learns that her father took out a heavy mortgage on the ship seven months before it went down, raising questions about whether the vessel was deliberately sunk for insurance money.
