What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar travels to San Francisco to look into a $50,000 endowment policy payout. Dollar works with insurance broker Ed Porter, who has handled the account of wealthy client Leslie Markham for many years. Checks issued to Mrs. Markham have been signed and deposited by her husband, Floyd Markham, and several people at her usual haunts report that she has not been seen in months. Dollar sets out to deliver a check to her in person and begins to suspect that something is seriously wrong at the Markham house. The story is broadcast on Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, the CBS Radio series, with Bob Bailey in the title role.

San Francisco, California, in the 1950s, including the Markham house, Porter's office in the Commodore building, and the city's bank and nightspots.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
