What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is investigating a 1951 burglary at McCormick's home on Long Island. A dying convict named Mike Cairn tipped him that Joe Panie, a small-time auto thief, might be responsible. When Johnny checks Panie's hotel room, he finds it ransacked and is nearly shot by a mysterious woman. Working with Lieutenant Martin, Johnny tracks down Iris Carter, Joe Panie's ex-wife from six years ago, hoping she can lead him to Panie.
