What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is sent to Tucson to investigate a $50,000 life insurance claim on James Lansing, who died on a public street with no identification. The coroner performed an autopsy before authorities even knew who the body was. Johnny must verify that the dead man is actually the James Lansing who took out the policy, especially since the examining physician seems oddly evasive about his work.
Tucson, Arizona in 1955; Johnny travels from Hartford, Connecticut to investigate the insurance claim.
Characters: Johnny Dollar, Jim Carter, Sergeant Younger, Dr. Carl Mayhood, Arlene Kennedy
Listen for: Johnny's suspicions about whether the body is actually James Lansing, and Dr. Mayhood's strange reluctance to confirm his own examination and signature.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
