What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is called to Boston to investigate the theft of the Ivy Emerald, a valuable gold brooch shaped like Boston ivy that was stolen from the home of Mrs. Oscar B. Sterling-Wait. The emerald was taken from a hidden safe in her library, and Johnny must determine how the thief learned the combination to what was supposed to be an impenetrable safe.

Boston, Massachusetts, including the Beacon Hills section and Mrs. Sterling-Wait's mansion library

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Bob Baker, Mrs. Oscar B. Sterling-Wait, Hendrix the butler, Harry Darlington, Arnold, Evelyn Meiness

Listen for: Johnny's deduction about how the safe combination could be learned despite the manufacturer's guarantee, and his identification of a former servant named Arnold as a potential suspect

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
