What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives at a remote farmhouse on the Isopus River in upstate New York, supposedly for the trout fishing season opener. His real assignment is to watch over five-year-old Barry Aspenwald and his stepfather Tom, who stands to inherit the boy's share of a million-dollar estate if Barry dies before the family's dying patriarch. The dangerous Blue Rock pool below the bridge seems like the perfect place for Tom to stage a fatal accident.

The Horn Block Farm near Mount Tremble, New York, on the Isopus River, during the opening day of trout season in early spring.

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Phil, Thomas Gerald Aspenwald, Emery Archibald, Nancy Archibald, Barry Aspenwald, Fritz Hornblock, Mrs. Hornblock

Listen for: Johnny's clever arrival at the farmhouse under the guise of a fishing enthusiast, his first encounters with Tom Aspenwald and young Barry, and Fritz Hornblock's warning about the treacherous Blue Rock pool where accidents could easily be faked.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
