What happens
Johnny Dollar, an independent insurance investigator, is hired by Anton Wyman, owner of Providential Insurance in Hartford, Connecticut, after a bookkeeper named Tom Houser vanishes with $200,000 in cash from the company safe. Dollar goes to Houser's shabby rooming house, where a landlady hands over a key. Inside the room he finds a man who has been struck down, and a lamp with a suspicious item on it. Sergeant Ed Wilson of police headquarters agrees to check the lamp for fingerprints. Dollar then meets Elwood Sprague, who reveals more about the company's operations and presses Dollar for help. The Johnny Dollar series, starring Bob Bailey, aired on CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
